Through layering of sprayed oil paint, Thomas Gillant’s works interplay between flat surface and perceived depth. While maintaining smooth physical surfaces, the paintings create ambiguous optical dimensions with gestural marks and coordinated colors. His work blurs the lines between painted and digital aesthetics, and addresses the perception of pictorial space.
